CyberCompliment Day

Thanks for Blogging!

David Warlick pointed out a suggestion from Jennifer Wagner to make today CyberCompliment day. I think this is a great idea, so let’s spread some happiness and gratitude on the web!

Will Richardson is definitely at the top of my list of people to thank, as I’m sure he will be for many other people. Collaborating with him over the course of several months to develop a course was a really wonderful experience. He is just as terrific to work with as you would think from reading his blog and book. It is specifically because of working with him that I started this blog, plus a wiki for my team at work, plus participating in the Online Connectivism Conference, plus watching Larry Lessig talk, plus…well, I’m sure there will be more later. He’s the one who started me on this path, partly because his enthusiasm for what we can do with these tools was infectious. I felt like I couldn’t not blog and at least try out the tools for myself. If we could just clone several hundred of Will and leave them in strategic locations in schools and government, think about all the people who could be motivated and the changes we could make!

Everyone else who I read and who stretches my brain deserves thanks as well. You can check my blogroll or my Google Shared Items for a good idea of what I read. Also, a big thanks to everyone who has commented here or linked to me. You are all part of my learning network, and I appreciate you! One advantage of a small audience is that I can link to every one of you here, so have a bit of “link love” (starting with the most recent comments, excluding a few corporate people who were doing PR):

Thanks to you all! You are helping me learn!

  1. Thank you Christy – you’re also very much a part of my own learning network, helping me reflect on both my day-to-day and long term vision for education and educational technology. Thanks for the contribution you make to the ongoing, world-wide dialogue.🙂

  2. Christy, thanks a lot – you made my day. I have seen Davids posting about compliment day and thought wha a nice idea. But never expected beeing mentioned in such a list. And giving the compliment back: Having found your blog late it is now the time to observe all the new🙂 Thanx for blogging, sharing and connecting – Thats great.

  3. Bitte schön Andreas! You took the time to wish me a happy birthday, so I thought it was my turn to send something happy back to you.

And don’t worry; I’ve only been blogging since the end of December. You didn’t miss much!🙂

  4. Many thanks Christy for your acknowledgement!

With so much out there on the Net and so little time to take it all in, it’s nice to know who’s reading whom and learning from and with one to the next. You touch on those I follow too – what a community we are!

For brief moments we collide, then happen on our way once again, only to collide somewhere else – I’m loving the journey!

    Cheers, Marg

  5. Hi Marg,

It is a wonderful journey, isn’t it? Tony Karrer has some interesting information on tracking blog conversations and online communities that you might be interested in (if you haven’t read it already).

I’m trying out MyBlogLog now, but I don’t feel like I’ve gotten too much out of it yet. I do get a lot out of coComment, so when I comment on someone else’s site I am notified of later comments in the thread. I like seeing who else is commenting on the same things I am.

Thanks for visiting, Marg! Hope to bump into you again sometime!

  6. Woot! I made the list! As a bit of an odd fish in the barrel, I find that my blog is mishmash of all sorts of ideas. I’m glad that some of them help you. Or make you laugh. Or possibly help you *and* make you laugh at the same time.🙂

What do you think?
