I love how some of my posts from 2007 still generate regular comments, such as this question today about software for creating a portfolio.
First, if you’re wondering why you need a portfolio, read Tom Kuhlmann’s explanation.
If you’re trying to plan or create a portfolio, check out April Hayman’s very thorough series on creating an instructional design portfolio:
April’s CMS post only addresses WordPress and Joomla. Those are both good choices (my portfolio is here in WordPress), but there are many more out there.
- Helen Barrett has created her portfolio in many tools so you can compare the options.
- Michelle Martin’s Guide to Using Free Tools to Create an Online Portfolio is from 2008, so some of the links no longer work, but the strategies are still good.
- MariAn Klein explains how to create a fast, simple portfolio with Posterous.
- I haven’t tried Google Sites myself, but it’s come up in several conversations I’ve read about portfolio options.
Do you have a favorite tool for creating portfolios or a resource I’ve missed?
